Fun with Teaching Phonics
Knowledge of phonics is necessary for children to become readers. It is the understanding that letters and letter combinations represent the sounds in words. For example the long a sound can be represented by the letter a, or the letter combinations ai, and ay. Children need practice with letter/letter combinations and the sounds they make. Issaac and Issabella will demonstrate many activities that can be done at home to provide practice with phonics. Activities are fun and include sorts, magnetic letters, sound boxes, cut up sentences, words to boxes and highlighting with tape.
